The New Meluna Design!

I'm so happy, now Meluna has a lovely new design! The ring stems are thicker (and I think more smooth) so they won't break. And now ALL their cups have nice grip rings at the base, to make removal more easy.

No problem. I have had a couple of people ask about the finish as they don't look as shiny as before. Plus someone on LJ asked if they were made differently as they had the seam along the side implying compression moulding rather that the old style which had a blob on the rim from injection moulding. That person also questioned if they were still TPE or silicone.
I do know that MeLuna bought new machinery.
Waiting for answers from MeLuna...

"The cups are injection molded from TPE. We have only sandblasted the surface of the injection mold.
The interface looks now "frozen". Thus, you can touch the Cup better."

Awesome! They look a lot nicer and much less cheaper. Oh... I don't know, there are so many cups I like, but do I really need another cup when my Keeper is doing just fine?

I agree, a slightly textured surface (like many other cup brands) does help with grip. And the new grip rings will be nice. I'll be getitng a sample too soon, I can't wait to see it in person!) Teresa, your photos show so many details, I can tell this will bring Meluna up even higher!

So still TPE, that's good. Because actually, there is not only a latex allergy, but also a silicone allergy. Although it has not yet been determined which is more prominet. Matter of fact, when I spoke to Keeper a while back, they said that's the reaons why they kept their latex cup, instead of going completely silicone. So its good that Meluna can also cater to people with these sensitivities.

Is this "new & improved" meluna available in the USA? From which source(s)?

I believe it is! But I think we will have to wait a bit for the new stock to fill up? Hopefully Teresa from Femininewear can answer this... Or perhaps she did on facebook, but I just don't remember because I just woke up and my brain is a bit foggy at the moment, hahahahaha.

On that note, you would be able to buy them either directly from the Meluna website, or from www.femininewear.com. Perhaps Leastore would have them too?? But again, the old ones may need to be sold out first, and the new stock probably needs to come in. I'll check facebook again and post if I hear anything about it. Or Teresa can.

i had the old MeLuna style before and now got the new one and i absolutely love it! it is much nicer colour (i saw the violet one in the shop, whoaaa, they are sooo pretty!) and the surface now feels almost like my Fleurcup:) and the rings at the base and everything - i think it's great they made these changes. just wanted to share the opinion:).

I like the changes too, they go in more smoothly, and are easier to grip now
