IUD and cups

I have an IUD (Mirena) and it says to use tampons with care, so as not to pull the threads. It's been about 6 months since I've had the IUD put in and I still have periods. Has anyone used the cups with the IUD? Will it pull the threads out?

Lots of women use cups with an IUD, just fine. But it does depend on the brand... Because some brands have more suction that others. When you are shopping for a cup, check the company's FAQ sections to find out if their brand is recomended for use with an IUD.

I know I am posting a little late. I use the medium Meluna and a size A Keeper cup and I have an IUD. I have not had any problem with mine. I have a Para guard IUD and my strings are only 2 centimeters long. You may want to check with your GYN and make sure your strings are cut really short the only problem is when checking for your strings when they are short like that can be very challenging. Also always make sure the suction is broken before you empty your cup and remove slowly. Hope that helps
