Has anyone ever had leaking brake fluid?
I figured id go WAAAYYYY off topic here.
somthing is leaking (lets call it a light flow) from under my car. It doesnt smell like gas or oil, its not very much, it's black and it seems to be coming from the under the front passenger seat. I knew something was up with my breaks, though it was the pads. At least that's what Dad, the car expert told me. Could the two be related? What else could be leaking down there.
maybe my car needs to switch from pads to a cup to prevent leaking =P

Engine oil can be black. A good way to check is to look at your engine oil (under your hood, of course). Check the level and wipe the dipstick off on a paper towel and see if it's the same type of black color/consistently. If it continues, put something under the car and let it collect so that you're CERTAIN it's coming from the area you think it is. If it is engine oil, it's likely a cracked hose or a loose tube. Like I said, check the engine oil under your hood and see if it matches.
You can also check your brake fluid reserve if you're concerned about that. Brake fluid usually isn't black, although it can get to be dark brown if it's old. That's why collecting the fluid and checking/comparing colors can help you see what is leaking.
Though if it is a very dark black, it is more than likely engine oil. Hope this helps (and I'm not a professional, so take what I say with a grain of salt xp).

Re: Has anyone ever had leaking brake fluid?
Thanks for the advise!
I havn't checked the oil in a while so I will do that soon. And im not completely sure of the color as it was dark out when I realized it was leaking. I'll probably end up having my dad look at it in a few weeks when im home.
