Texture of MPowercup

I've just received my cup in the post last week and i'm a bit concerned. The package was smashed a bit in the posting process (obviously square box in envelope this was bound to happen) so the box seal was opened, although the envelope it was in was still sealed. The cup is very dusty and doesn't seem to have a smooth texture. Is this normal or should i be concerned?
Will the texture smooth out once i have boiled it for the first time?
